As part of the Some Dance Screen Fest, the P.L.A.C.E. Production team will be awarding a Mentorship to two local dance artists. The program is designed to help artists in their development and creation process by offering filmmaking guidance and providing a camera operator, video editing and sound composition. The mentorship is awarded to artists who lack the resources to create their work independently.

 

Awards + Prizes
P.L.A.C.E. Production will provide a camera operator, video editing and sound composition. Costuming will be available upon request. Film will be premiered at Some Dance Screen Fest on October 21, 2023.

 

Rules + Terms
Applicants must be a resident of the Inland Empire, be able to attend the film screening (In-person or virtual), have a somewhat flexible schedule (for filming) and be available for two Zoom/in-person meetings.

 

P.L.A.C.E. Production does not accept applications from dance companies.
If you apply for the Some Dance Mentorship Program you may NOT apply for the Some Dance Film Fest. Applicants can only submit for one program.

Some Dance Screen Fest

Some Dance Screen Fest is a bi-annual Dance Film Festival, presented by P.L.A.C.E. Performance which features local, regional and international short dance video works in various dance styles. The in-person event will be held at a venue in Downtown Riverside and a virtual screening will be made available for increased accessibility.
 
As part of this event, the P.L.A.C.E. Production team will be offering a Mentorship to local dance artists. The program is designed to help artists in their development and creation process by offering filmmaking guidance and providing camera operators, video editing and sound composition. The mentorship is awarded to artists who lack the resources to create the work independently.
 
P.L.A.C.E. Performance is an artist-led – all-volunteer – organization dedicated to creating possibilities for local and emerging dancers, choreographers and performers.
